MPEG@ movie with Pinnacle 9 to Media Player

I created an MPEG2 movie with Pinnacle 9 from an anologue camcorder and signified it to open with Windows Media Player. I uploaded the file to my website & hyperlinked a page link for download. Once the link is activated Media Player opens, shows it connecting, then eventually states it doesn't recognize the codec the movie was created in. What did I do wrong?
