Media Player won't play video

I am using Media Player 9 and when I play DVD, VCD, or DivX files (any video in fact), I get sound but no video. If I open up DVD Shrink and leave it open in the background then they all work fine (except for DVD). Any ideas? I have the same problem with WinDVD4, I need to have DVD Shrink open to see the picture.
