Hello,

My kid scratched DVD, and it's not playable in DVD player anymore. My DVD burner still can read it though. I've backed it up, but after I burned a DVD I got this "this dvd disc is nor formatted for this region" message, which is weird knowing, that I had no problem playing original DVD.

I've tried different ripping software like AnyDVD, SmartRipper, DVD Decrypter but result was the same. then I tried to edit IFO file with IFOEdit - turned out the same way. I'm getting really pissed off having burned 5 unplayable DVD's already.

If any of you could suggest me any solution I'd be very very thankful.

Thanks in advance

Giga Z.

Was it perhaps protected using RCE?

DVD Decrypter 3.5.1.0 will (by default) bring up a little dialog box when you put the disc in if it has RCE protection on it and ask you to select a region.

If you choose the wrong one, you'll get an error similar to that when you try and play it back.

Since DVD Decrypter didn't bring any box saying anything about RCE protection I assume there was no any.

So no any other suggestions?

p.s. DVD Decrypter didn't find RCE protection on either original of copy DVD, but when I to play discs the message appears only on the copy.

Have you tried different media types? I had some TDK DVD+R's that gave me that same message on one of my DVD players. I've had great succsess using Fujifilm DVD-R and Memeorex DVD-R media.

I use DVD Shrink + Nero to burn.

When problem occured I was using Philips DVD+R's. It's a pretty darn good brand.

Do you have any kind of dvd region reader running on you computer when you burn it? If you do, the default region is probably set to other country regions that your dvd player can't read. If not, you can use a dvd region such as DVD Region + CSS Free DVDIdle.com/dvd-region-free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/dvd-region-free.htm and change the region to the one your dvd player can read then burn it. If that doesn't work, try copying the dvd to your hdd using CloneDVD while DVD Region + CSS is running then burn it.

OK, I found a workaround for a solution. I thougth I just needed a movie, so screw special features! What I did I used DVD Shrink to put only episodes into "custom made DVD" and burned it. that's it! works like a charm.
thanks to everyone.

p.s. drkcloud, I use anyDVD.
