How to use / burn DVD-RAM disks !

Hi there,

I have the LG-4040B (4x) DVD Burner and it came with a DVD-RAM disk.

Do I need special drivers do use a DVD-RAM disk ?
Can Roxio, Nero or other software use it like a DVD-RW disk ?

How do I use it ?

DVD-RAM should appear as a standard (optical) removable drive and can be written to by the OS directly, just like a ZIP or similar drive.
There should have been DVD-RAM drivers supplied with your drive, if not, they are definitely available on the LG website.

DVD-RAM is a very archivally secure format, with a projected data retention of at least 40 years. It is re-writable and is good for at least 100,000 re-write cycles. The usual data format for these disks is UDF 1.5.
