i have an old v4 ps2 and an 8mb mem card. No mod chips, no network adapter, no swap cds, no fliptop... and no money.
I do have a spare 120 gb maxtor HD not really being used. I want to do the whole hdloader/advance thing, but i need a network adapter (obviously) and someway to make the ps2 load the game.
first, is there a place that sells network adapters cheap? outpost has one for $20 oem, but it doesnt look like a real network adapter.

2nd, hdloader/advance... again, i have no money, so could i use a $10 ps2 memory card to pc adapter cable to put a pre made hdloader mcexploit whatever on to it to get it to work? i've seen tutorials on how make a mc hdloader, but i dont have anything to get a burnt cd to run on a ps2. or is buying hdloader/advance just that much easier. links to cheap hdloader/advance would be nice too...
3rd, i was going to use this 120 gb hd for storage for a set top box(movies, games, pvr...). is it possible to format it so that 60 gigs is for the ps2 to use and the other 60 for just storage for the set top boxes' external drive(via ide to usb converter)
and last, since the pstwo has a built in network adapter and will probaly be able to use a usb hd, i read that eb is giving a $100 trade credit in for an old ps2 on the purchase of a new pstwo. $10 credit x5 for old ps2 games = i just pay tax. again, questions 2 and 3 would apply for this.
i'll post a link for that $100 trade in credit if i can find it....
