Hi !

I am new to converting VHS tapes and other videos to vcd/dvds. I am currently using Nero Ultra edition 6.3, specifically Nero Vision Express to capture video and encoding to MPEG 1/2; Nero Burning ROM for burning.

I would like to know what is the best software (first and second preferences) for capturing, encoding and burning. Currently I have a lot of issues with video frame drops while capturing video. Also, when I am copying VHS to DVDs, I see a audio/video quality loss.
I use the computer with following sepcs.

CPU: P4 2.53 Ghz
Ram: 1 GB
Video capture source: Firewire card (PCI)
HD: 7200 RPM hard drive.
For analog to video conversion: I use my Sony digital8 camcoder to convert my analog (VCR) video to digital (firewire connection to PC).

Video card: AGP 4x with 32MB video RAM
Does the video RAM play any role in frame drops and audio/video loss in video captures?
