"data verificatione failed" with nero for data DVD's

I keep getting "data verificatione failed" Read error on cd. When I try making a data dvd with nero express. It came with my lite-on dual layer burner. I have been using ritek ridata dvd's. In the status summary for example it says something like total files=21, identical=17, different=0, inaccessible=4, skipped=0. Data verification always fails and I always get inaccessible files. Why? I go below the 4.7 Gb limit.
Is there I better progam to use to use for data backups? The files seemed fine at first but when I watched one avi. it froze at a certain point that the orginal did not on.
