i just purchased a 8x external memorex dvd writer and im having some trouble with it. whenever i write a disc the buffer drops out and the device buffer starts spazing out...this tends to drop the write speed to about .6x...much slower than the advertised 8x...i emailed memorex about a way to turn on DMA for the drive...since it wasnt showing up..and i couldnt find a way to do it...and they told me that dma cant be turned on for external drives(which i think is wierd...since i mentions turning on dma in a couple spots of the product guide) regardless...if i cant use dma what else can i do? writing at .6x doesnt really cut it..and certainly isnt worth the money that i paid. any help would be appreciated : )
