I'd like to capture certain scenes from a dvd and insert them in my powerpoint presentation. what software can i use to do the capture part?

I you mean still pictures, the PowerDVD player and possibly WinDVD has a feature to take snapshots while watching the DVD. If you mean entire scenes, try ImToo DVD Ripper. www.imtoo.com
