Cant connect to Xbox : Network cable unplugged?

Guys, I badly need your help. I cant understand this at all. I recently got my xbit mod chip and I was able to figure out how to work it today. I was able to load up the EVO dashboard but there is a problem.... I cant connect to the xbox through my PC. I have two NIC cards and one is connected to the internet. The other one I have plugged to the xbox but it keeps saying "a network cable is unplugged" . I have switched wires to the xbox with both network cards and each time I plug in to the xbox I get the same ""a network cable is unplugged" message. I know also, on the xbox it tells me to check cables. When I plug in the modem directly to the xbox it reads that I have pluged in a cable. But when I connect it back to the PC, it says to check the cables. I have tried a bunch of cables and the same problem. What could the problem be? I really need your help on this one. I have tried the network connection wizard anf I have tried both crossover and regular cables all without sucess.
