Burning HDTV shows: ARe they wider than 16*9?

Hi there,

I have a strange problem. I burn some HDTV shows that are in AVI and convert them to DVD files. When I preview them on my PC DVD Player they show just fine but when I burn them to DVD and play them on my DVD PLayer the show overshoots my 16*9 TV. The parential guide (TV14 for example) is nearly off screen.

Is HDTV wider than 16*9?
