"No Disc" error w/ Toast 6, Lacie Ext Firewire &OSX 10.3.6

I just bought a Lacie 16X Dbl Layer d2 DVDRW FW drive this weekend and I THOUGHT it was going to work fine. The salesperson told me that the burner would use basically any disc...DVD-R DVD+R DVD+/-RW so I got a spindle of DVD-R..came home, installed the burner and when I went to use Toast Titan. 6, first, it recognized the burner as _NEC_DVD_RW ND-3500AG-FireWire. Next, when I try to record, a msg pops up and I get a "No Disc" Error. I went and bought some DVD+R discs to try those and still have the same error. I also tried putting a regular blank CDR and it still doesn't recognize the disc. Lastly, I made sure the dvd burner was selected w/in Toast and not the cdrw. what can I do? I really want to use this burner ASAP
