Iv got red dwarf from a friend, I tried to rip it but it was 5.6 gb so I didnt bother.
The thing is the dvd's contain only episodes no special features. There are menus and the legal copyright stuff at the start aside from that what can I remove to make it under 4.7gb? or how do I remove it, do I need dvd shrink?

You definitely need DVD Shrink :)
Many episodic discs need to be squished quite a bit because like you mention they're crammed with episodes and little to nothing else to remove.

Ok, thanks.
There are 6 eps on each disc is DVD Shrink easy to use? When you say squish do you mean change the size or chop bits of like end credits and stuff?

By "squish" I meant compressing :)
DVD Shrink is pretty easy to get the hang of. Do you have Nero on your system by chance?

I have Nero Burning Rom 5.5.
It's not installed, as on my last machine they gave me it in a slipcase with my CD-Burner. I don't think it worked.
However I will install it, as I may need it to burn cue files to DVD-R for the PS2 disc ID utility.
But compress it with shrink and burn to DVD-R with Nero... why can't I burn it with DVD Decrypter?

You can certainly burn with Decrypter - nothing wrong with that. Though I'm no expert with PS2 I believe Decrypter is used to back them up so if you'd rather not have Nero on your system you may not have to :)

Cool, well I guess i'll try DVD Shrink and then burn with DVD Decrypter.
However i'm still uninstalling Easy CD/DVD 6 incase I do need Nero, as well it really does suck awfully. The DVD tools with it blow, the audio is ok but all I do is burn my music to disc and I can do that with Windows.
Thanks for the help :)

Oh and thanks for the zapper.
By any chance, do you know if DVD Shrink works with PS2 games?
I remember you saying you don't deal to much with PS2 games but i'v never had to rip n burn a DVD9 game. I'm fine with every other kind of game, it's just I want to back up MGS2:Substance.
So if it does work will the games still be able to play from dvd-r, or well they be dvd rips after shrink is finished with them?

Shrink only handles movies. I belive DVD Decrypter is the one you want for PS2 games although I don't know if there's a way to make a DVD-9 game fit a SL blank other than using a DL burner. You may want to run a search for "Metal Gear Solid" or cruise through our PS2 DVD Backup forum :)

Yeah I know all about backing up PS2 games with Decrypter.
But one more question, I saved the red dwarf disc 1 as DVD folders and not an ISO image. So do I just drag and drop the Audio_ts & Video_ts folders into Nero or how do I burn them?

Yep, just burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders as data.

Thanks alot,
But the thing I said about Nero not working... well that is true, when I open it it says Nero can only be run with the hardware it was bundled with. They just gave me it in the shop. Anyhoo, there is a cd key but I don't want to have to download and pay for a full version. So I guess I will have to rip them again as an Iso image and burn it.
Thanks alot again, Shrink is really easy to use. Just insert disc choose backup and where to save and hey presto. Backing up Red dwarf with shrink shaved over 1gb off of the total file size.
