virtual dub first pass error..?

hello everyone,
I have just encountered a weired problem with virtual dub recently. Never had this before. Ok firstly I am using the following :

DivX - 5.0.5 coded
cdex
virtual dub - 1.4.7
vfpi convert
dvd2avi.

I have converted movies before using this guide and it has worked very well so far. recently, I get an error in the firstpass in the virtual dub. In the job control section, after the firstpass is about 12-13% over then it just displays error on the screen and them moves on the 2nd pass which obviously doenst work. I would appreciate any help/idea on solving this problem. thanks a lot.bye
