Hi Everyone,

I am trying to extract certain chapters only from DVD's in order to make a sort of compilation of my favourite movie scenes to play at a party. I am using a Mac Powerbook, 1.5g of RAM and 80gb hard drive. I thought that i would extract them and then edit it all together in Final Cut Pro, does anyone have any other suggestions?
I have tried extracting chapters with Mac The Ripper, and these chapters havn't been playable in Mac's DVD Player Utility. does anyone know why? Has anyone had the same kind of issues? And can anyone suggest a better way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help, it is much appreciated.

Beth

oh, thanks--duh!
so this article answered many of my questions:

it seems like there are several programs, none of them perfect. I'm going to try either DVDxDV or Toast. I would be curious to know if anyone has found a better solution.

I am still working on this, i havn't checked out the link you posted or the one below yours, but if i have any break-throughs i will post them here, the party that i need this compilation for isn't until march so hopefully i can get a lot of this done over summer, (summer in Australia!). Yes i will let you know whatever i can.

I'd use DVDxDV to rip the data to a quicktime file. Then edit them together with final cut pro or imovie.

OSEX is also capable of extracting (& decrypting) to quicktime but it's a little buggy.
