Hello,
I have an 8x DVD burner and am using 4x DVD+R media and am thus setting Nero to burn at 4x. I'm burning from my hard drive (master on IDE channel 1) to the burner which is slave on IDE channel 2.

I'm getting burn times for a full DVD of like 40+ minutes. Isn't that a bit long? I feel like it used to burn one in about 19 minutes. What could be going on?

Thanks for any help.

Peace

Have you changed you media recently and is Nero set to maximum speed.Sometimes Nero will not always detect the correct speed of the media.Check the write speed while burning to ensure it is burning at 4 x speed. Here is a nice tool which you can download from the link below which will test your media.

Hope this helps as 40min + does seem a little slow to me.

I had the same problem which turned out to be my dvd rom drive. I fixed the problem by replacing the rom drive with another burner. Now I copy everything on the fly from burner to burner.
