I got a new Toshiba SD-R5272 DVD drive, and I downloaded and installed PowerDVD. When I try opening video DVDs, however, the sound has lots of pops and noise, and PowerDVD crashes no more than 30 seconds in.

Athlon 1100, SB Live sound card, GEForce 4600 Ti video card, 512MB RAM, plenty of disk space. I looked for a troubleshooting guide on PowerDVD's site with no luck.
