Transmission fail in connection of vhs to video device

I have some vhs tapes that I would like to convert to dvd formats and I used a vhs from grundig connected to a dazzle dvc-80 and with studio version 8.
I connected the vhs by the AV slot with an adapter and then with the 3 cable (video and audio(2)), but when I entered the studio 8, I can't get any image.
Can someone help me trying to understand me why I can't put this to work.
