I'm new to all this so pls bear with me.

A friend (in a different country) and I are beginning to learn how to rip DVD movies. He has ripped a DVD to an avi format and sent me a copy.

The audio track however in the avi has been copied in a different language - so my question is can I (easily) substitute the audio from my orginal DVD in place of the exitsing audio track - or is it better/easier to rip a whole new copy?

It depends on a lot of things. First off if one of you has an NTSC (primarily North America and Japan) disc and the other has a PAL (most other places) disc they'll normally play at slightly different speeds so it would be difficult (at best) to do if your not particularly knowledgable. If they're both NTSC, it's likely they're the same, but if they're both PAL there's a greater chance that they're different because there are so many different region codes for PAL. If you're both in the same region it should be pretty simple to do with VirtualDub. If you're in different regions it may still be just as easy, or it may be more work than it's worth.
