I downloaded a Korean film called Musa the warrior it came in 3 parts with subtitles in SUB/IDX format with AC3 sound and a resolution of 640x228.

First I used subrip to convert the 3 subtitle files to SRT

Next I used SRT2SSA to convert the Subs to SSA format so I could hardsub it using Virtualdub. SSA files created using Subrip cause a few problems for some reason.

Unfortunately Virtualdub couldn't load the film
so I used Main Concept encoder to convert the film to MPG format (Without any subs).

I loaded the MPG film into virtualdub added the subtitler filter and coverted it to MPG using Yusuf Motiwali's YMPEG (KVCD)codec.

This produced a MPV film with subtitles but no sound.

Next I loaded the MPG film (the one produced by main concept)in Virtualdub MOD and extracted the AC3 sound.
Next I used besweet to convert the AC3 sound to MP2
with gain.

Next using TMPGENC encoder I merged the MPV file with the MP2 file.

Unfortunately, the audio was not in sync with the film
the sound came first and the mouth moved after.

So using MPG TOOLS under file in TMPGENC I cut the film where the sound came. I split the audio from the movie and deleted the video stream produced.
Then using MPG TOOLS again I cut the movie where the mouth moved. I split the video and audio streams again and deleted the audio stream produced.

Next using MPG TOOLS I muxed the audio and video.

Next I needed the start of the film before the sound went out of sync. So using MPG TOOLS yet again I cut out the first part of the film before the problems started.

Finally I merged the first part with the second part.

Thankfully I didn't have any audio problems with the second and third cd of the film. They were comparatively easy to sort.

Next using TMPGENC DVD author I converted the MPGs into
VOB and burnt the film to DVD using Nero 6. The final picture came out a bit stretched because I converted it to NTSC (704x480) but it worked ok.

Phew!!! I hope this helps anybody having similar problems. If anyone knows of any other utilities I could've used to make my life easier let me know.
If anyone knows how I keep my aspect ratio correct
so my film doesn't get stretched/squashed when i convert it to a standard resolution let me know.

IF YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM. DON'T BE GREEDY. SHARE THE ANSWER.
