vegas 5.0 no mp3 audio format??

I just upgraded my editing software from 4.0 - 5.0 and when I load video into the program I get the audio from the video but when I go to add music or other audio effects they won't show up in the explorer window. I went to see if I had the drivers and plug-ins etc and they seem to all be there. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this problem may be.

I hope this software just didn't go from my most fav to the most hated.

edit: I just noticed that the only audio it will allow me to import is WAVE audio or Windows Media Audio... does this mean I'm going to have convert each piece of new music into wave or WMA??
