Work great for DRU-500A and Sony Standalone
1x is kinda suck, take an hr to burn. But it's money, so I am fine with it. No need to hurry

Is Princo 2X compatable with Sony500a writer and a standalone Sony dvd player? This would be cool.

I ordered the Accu's and am gonna test those out as well. Keep posting what media you are using with DRU500a, if its working, and where you got it/price? I am gonna try a few single discs here and there of other brands as well.
****Edit****
I got this from another site of good Media to use with the DRU500a.....
Okay Drive is Great, Have tried the following media with no coasters
TDK DVD-R (3)
TDK DVD-RW (1)
Sony DVD+RW (1)
Ritek DVD-R (4)
I burned Ritek and TDK using the latest Nero 5.5. I burned the -RW and +RW using Pinnacle Studio 8.
All of those burned are DVD-Video and they are recognized by my standalone DVD player Pioneer DV-C503
-I havent tried these first hand but it seemed like credible info to me.

Hi Seven,
I have tried Optodisc dvd-rw, Memorex dvd-rw and dvd+rw, Sony dvd+rw and Phillips dvd+rw with no coasters yet. I prefer the plus discs though, the minus seem to stop at some segments. I went ahead and ordered from allmediaoutlet.com. They have a special for optodisc. $76 for 50 Optopdisc dvd-rw's and 50 dvd cases...no shipping.

That is a good deal. I confirm that the Accu DVD-R from cdrdvdrmedia.com work. So far 6 done and no coasters. I might try the Optis if they are that good of a deal.

I have used Verbatim, TDK and Memorex with the DRU-500A burner (mainly +R's with and several +RW's). So far I haven't noticed any problems with these particular brands.

Best Buy (website) has Verbatim 50 pack 4X DVD+R for $100. I have burned around 40 disc (data & video) with my Sony DRU 500A with no problems. You will need the latest firmware update installed (see Sony's website) to take advantage of the higher (4X) speed.
Burn baby burn.

I have been using the ACCU DVD-R discs with no burning problems. I have used DVDXCOPY, PrimoDVD, Pinnacle8, and Nero 5.5.10.0. They play in my XBOX, 2 sony dvd players and my toshiba player. However, can't ever get one to play in my Samsung P-401. Usually buy from meritline.com.
