Is it possible to rip a DVD Region 2 to the harddrive then burn the file to a region 1 disc?

When you rip your R2 disc, make it region free, that way it doesn't matter what you burn to. It will play on anything.

In fact, I have just read that it is not possible to burn region codes on DVD-R discs anyway (only via "authoring DVD types)
