DUO2 and trouble reading DVD-R

i just installed a DUO2 SE chip in my ps2. It is reading cdr backups, original ps2 dvd games, dvd movies, dvdr movies, but not dvd-r backup games. I tried adjusting the laser, i burned on verbatim dvd-r at 1x using recordnow max. i also used dvdinfo and it found no read errors. If someone has any other suggestions of what to try i would greatly appreciate it b/c i am quite stumped and upset that these dvd-rs wont play!

by the way my ps2 is a v4 no-gap.

I have the very same problem,
it's very annoying every works except for DVDRs
did you find something ?
Please let me know when you do.
