How to watermark a Quicktime video?

i have tried to add a watermark to a quicktime clip in ulead videostudio 7. however, the clip can't be rendered properly

i can render a similar mpeg clip just fine

i am not very familiar with quicktime codecs, but i think i have the sorensen codec. are there other codecs? am i using the wrong software? do you know the best tool for the job? thanks in advance
