Booting backups with HD Loader

Ok quick question. I have a original HD loader cd and what i want to do is boot backup games or be able to copy them to the hard drive and hd loader is not allowing me to do that. Also i would like to know how i can make a memory card exploit? I dont have any way of booting the playstation except for the HD Loader so i dont how i would get the software to the card.
