Problem playing 960x528 Res XviD (Overlay?)

Whenever i try to play these HRHDTV XviDs in FullScreen or in a large window i do not get all of the picture, instead I get a pink mask over the right hand side blocking out a substantial amount of the picture. I have tried playing the XviDs in different players including VLC Media Player which didn't work. I then started messing around with BSPlayer's settings and I did find one crappy solution: By disabling "Overlay Mode 1" it worked at fullscreen and in large windows.. but the problem was now that the overlay is disabled, it doesn't play well.. but jumps and freezes at high bitrate/movement scenes.

I also noticed that (with overlay enabled) that:
the more i panned in.. the more picture became visible (i.e. the pink mask would decrease in width)
but these are Widescreen and i do not want to have to watch them in Fullscreen.

If anybody can help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

My Display Adapter is the Rage 128 PRO - (which may have something to do with it).. the drivers are all updated etc. and it is working fine.

I have also tried playing different high resolution files (i.e. non 960x528) and they all worked fine.
