I am using X copy platinum to burn and it reads and compresses fine. When I go to to write the disk it immediately says Error unable to write disk check the log or something like that. What is making it do this? It only does it like once every 5 burns. Second, where is this "log" it is referring to?

what type of burner do you have? my parents dell does the same exact thing.

it is a Dell. It's the stock 16x DVD/RW. Why would it only do that to some though? My main question is where to find the "log" I am looking at the folder and it has all of the pieces to the movie. Is there another way to just burn those to a disk in another way? Yikes!

i am not sure right off hand where the log is. i load up the program and i dont see a button for it. it may only appear when you have an error. what type of burner do you have? you may have to upgrade your firmware.

you can go to your device manager.. start; control panel; system; then to hardware, then to device manager. look for your dvd/cr rom device. click on it and it will give you your model number. more then likely its a nec-1100a. you can go to http://support.necsam.com/oem/downloads/flashfirmware/

so do I need to download something?

My advice would be to try DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to replace platinum both are free and can be found here.If you really want to get to the log in Platinum click Start>MyComputer>Local Disk (C)your Hard Drive then look for Program Files>321 Studios>Platinum>Log there will probably be more than one just open them until you find the one your looking for.Good Luck!
