i note that yes a player can be fooled into playing a minidvd
if its the right kind and you can find the special information a list i have lost refered to several dvd players that have technician menu's for adjusting settings these menus are only reached by a special combination sequence different for each machine if your machine has the setting it can turn off the check for media type and thus it just check the data on the disc which in a minidvd is "dvd" however the trick is finding the information to access the menu and hopefully having the setting available in the firmware
