I bought swap magic a couple months ago and its been working great. I sort of jumped into the ps2 mod thingy after only researching for a few days, and swap magic seemed to be the best option. I've read about the hard drive loader things....so heres my question. I have an extra 80GB maxtor hard drive sitting next to me that hasnt been used in like a year, and my friend has the internet adaptor thing and i can probably get it off him for free or close to free. Now 80GB seems like it should hold maybe 20 games if they are 4GB each(on average) which is fine because i only have about 15 games, and only a few in rotation for play at any given time. I have all the original discs except for one, i only have the back up for. Will I be able to load this back up onto the hard drive(given that i still have swap magic)? and my friend wants be to buy him the swap magic disc set since he doesnt have a credit card...should i just buy myself one of the hard drive loader program discs and hook up the adaptor and the hard drive, then just sell him my swap magic and slide card? or should i invest in the hard drive loader AND keep my swap magic(maybe for more complete game compatability?)? or should I just not bother with the hard drive loader and stick to swap magic(which has been fine so far since i have my own dvd burner)? Ive had some problems with dvd-9 disks and swap magic, and i read you can load dvd9 into the hard drive via the pc...would i just rip an iso with my dvd burner and put it on the hard drive while its connected to my pc, then move it back to the ps2 or how does that work?
also what are my options for a hard drive loader, like different brands or different types? my gta vice city and gta san andreas seem to load fine, but gta3 needs the that swap magic fix disc in order to work...will i need any kind of "fixes" to get games to work like i do with swap magic? and if so can they just be installed on the hard drive so i dont have to switch tons of discs around?
I have an unmodded v7 ps2 btw.
