PAL DVD TO NTSC Help demystify results for newbie!

Hope I've posted this in the right forum...
I'm a nebie who, despite my best efforts, can't understand the various methods of converting PAL DVD to NTSC DVD. My main concern is that most "how-to's" instruct on how to rip the movie content itself but don't talk about menu's and extras. I want to make an exact copy (perhaps with some compression) of a PAL DVD. Can somebody please post a link if the info is available. I already have a DVD player that plays PAL discs but I want to copy the DVD for a friend of mine without having to reauthor menus etc. I ususally use Roxio burning software (I hear gasps!), and DVD decryptor. Is it possible to decrypt a PAL DVD then import the VIDEO TS folder into a program that will recode the program to NTSC? Any clarification will help immensely and all apologies if I haven't articulated in a clear manner what it is I'm after.
