PS2 Laser/Modchip Problem

I had just gotten my V7 ps2 chipped and found that some games like GTA SA and Vice City would take ages to load and then while playing graphics would pop up very late and games like WWE Smackdown 4 and 5 just would stay on there now loading screens forever.(They were all the original game cds and these things never happened before the chip). So i rang the person that chipped it and she said that it was a problem with the laser not the modchip. She also said try burning the games that dont work since burnt games are read off the modchip not the laser.
My questions are:
If the laser is damaged would that effect every game you play(because some games still worked perfectly while the above games didnt).

Are burnt games read off the modchip and originals read off the laser.

Did that lady ruin my ps2 laser because all DVDs, Music, PS1 games, and PS2 game (CD and DVD) worked perfectly untill i gave her my console now only PS2 DVD games work.
