I used to be able to burn movies on +R disks using DVD Lab and an unknown HP burner on a 2.4 ghz Compaq Presario running Win XP Home with SP2. These disks played fine on my Toshiba SD 2700 DVD player. Then the HP burner died a sudden and mysterious death. I looked around, and found a deal at BeatBuy where I got a free burner with the purchase of a 100 pack of Fujifilm +R disks.
The burner is a Dynex RX-DVDRW8. The nice thing about it is that it burns +R and -R formats. The bad thing about it is that the +R disks will not play in my DVD player. They play fine in the computer. The funny thing is that I can burn -R disks that play in my DVD player, which is not supposed to like the -R format.
Now, I have updated the firmware, I have tried other brands of +R disks, I have played with the DMA/PIO settings, I have tried other burning programs (the Dynex comes with Nero. Nice software, but it offsets the audio by five seconds.). I talked to Dynex customer support, who told me to exchange the burner. I did, and the second one does the same, so Dynex then said it was Nero's problem. Nero says that it is Dynex's problem. Sheesh! I then tried the Bit Setting program, but DVD Lab can't recognize the disk then, and Nero runs right past it.
The only thing I haven't been able to try is to put the burned + disks in other dvd players. The guy at BestBuy was very upset that I tried this. I'm running out of ideas. Some of the disks that I want to burn will be sent to other people across the country for presentation at conventions, and I need to make sure that they will work. Can you guys help me?
