I have read through a lot of posts that touch on this subject, but I haven't found a solution that works for me (at least not well).

I have an Oritron OnMedia Networked DVD player that streams AVIs over my LAN from a server using a proprietary streaming media server software package made by Digital5. (This unit is esentially the same as The Gateway Connected DVD Player.)

I have problems when playing back movies that are encoded using XviD with AC3 audio. The audio and video lose sync immediately. Strangely, the audio seems to be playing correctly and the video seems to get way ahead.

Movies that are encoded with XviD video and two-channel MP3 audio seem to play back fine.

Questions:
Is there any way to convert the audio from AC3 to MP3 without converting the video at all? What would be the quickest and easiest way to do this? I don't mind buying software if it's reasonable, but would rather find a way to do it with freeware.

I've been reading afterdawn for years, this is my first post. Thanks in advance for any help!
