Weak drive = no hd loader exploit?

Lately i've been trying to do the memory card exploit to load hd loader onto my cousin's unmoded ps2.

Everything has been going great and i know for a fact that the steps i've used work on my ps2

But, my cousin's ps2 will not read a ps1 disc. Is there anyone out there that knows how to load the hd loader onto and unmodded ps2 without using a ps1 disc

*from what little i know, i would need a a program that would put a ps2 game instead of a ps1 for the SCUS code. I've tryed doing this with the program for ps1 games but no good.

I've searched all around the interenet and the forums and for all i know i should just give up, but if anyone knows anything that would be great!!!!! :)

not possible, you MUST use a ps1 game. the exploit runs because of the way ps1 games are saved.
