I just got my ps2 back from modding and I can't boot games on dvd-r. Everything else work fine. The backups are made with no names DVD. Could this be the problem. The guy who did the job tested the mod with various brand of dvd-r with succes

Yeah it is probably from bad quality media. What burn speed are you bunring your games at? Its best to burn them at 1x speed and use good media like verbatim or TDK or Ritek GO4.
