Hello,
I am looking for a mod chip for my v7 PS2 that allows me play PS2/PS1/DVD backups/originals, without having to hold reset for 5 seconds and all of that stuff.

For a long time, people have been telling me that the Messiah 2 Pro is the best modchip available for the PS2 (others have told me that the DMS3 is the best), but just recently I've heard of the Matrix Infinity and the Crystal Modchips.

Anyway my question is, can you please compare and contrast these four different modchips (Matrix, Crystal, Messiah2, DMS3)? What are the good/bad things about them, and how do they compare to each other, in terms of reliability/durability/stability? Do they boot PS1/PS2/DVD's without having to hold reset? Are they "network ready"?

I have a version 7 PS2 (scph-39001). Sorry if this question was asked 1000000 times.

ps. What is the difference between the Matrix MXL2 and the Matrix Infinity? Do both of them have automatic booting, and is the Matrix Infinity worth the extra few bucks?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

i was going to buy the matrix infinity but i have the slimline ps2 they that if i put a mod chip i could burn out the laser so i change my mind and got the swap magic 3.3.i would say the matrix infinity for v1 to v10 is pretty much one of the best modchip,u can go with the crystal chip but there pretty much the same or dms4 modchip but il prefer the matrix infinity more, thats my opinion op it help you.

yudda111 , the laser in (slim) pstwos burns out weather there is a chip in it or not , and you still have to open the pstwo to use the swap magic . but xshredx has a v7 so that does not apply to him anyway .

i know he has a v7 im juste telling that i recommend matrix infinity or crystalchip or dms4 for is v7.SCE: for the swap magic 3.3 i know i af to do the tape mod and for the laser burn out is theres no burn the problem with is,Simply adding a tiny bit of superglue to the tape will cause no harm. The only reason using superglue would mess things up is if you add a s*** load of it.

1. Get SM and a PSTwo. SM comes with 2 discs, one for booting cds and one for booting dvds.
2. Open you pstwo. Get some scotch tape and super glue.
3. Locate the 2 'sensors'. Cut a tiny piece of tape about 3/8"x3/8" (three-eighths by three-eighths).
4. Apply a little bit of superglue on the sticky side of the scotch tape. Just enough to barely cover the entire piece of tape.
5. Put the tape on the 'sensor'. Do the same for the other 'sensor'.
6. Close your pstwo. Put in the Swap Magic dvd. Turn on the pstwo.
7. When it gets to the Insert Disc screen hit the eject button and put in your burned game.
8. Hit the X button

Thats it, nothing more to it. It will not cause the lazer to burn out. Unless you go crazy and start breaking stuff off your pstwo.

and i have a model 70011 us
