Mars II Mod Chip

Well, around early this year, I got a MARS-II / MA-501C (although right now I could swear I remember it being a 501D, but it's not in the site.) My PS2 model is SCPH-50002 (v9).

Anywaiz, my dad installed the chip, (he's done sensitive soldering many a times befre) and yea, he put it back together, and bam. The PS2 works perfectly, except for one thing. The mod chip wasnt functioning. My dad said he was quite sure he did all the wires correctly. Ideas as to what's wrong anyone ? The PS2 works exactly like an unmodded PS2.
