My old modded PS2 fried up after about 3 months. This was my second modded PS2 that has fried up in about the same amount of time.
Tomorrow, i am going down and buying one of the new slim version of PStwo's, and i was considering buying one of those swap disk thingys. My question is -- What's involved in using one of those? How exactly do you get them to play your backups. Does it take a long time to do the operation each time you want to play a game? Do i have to open up my PStwo in order to use the swap-disk system, thereby voiding my warranty like if i was to install a modchip?
The reason why i am considering doing this is because, i have heard about the new PStwo lasers being crap and burning out wether youi have a modchip or not. So i would like to keep my warranty good, incase the laser does burn up and i have to take it back.
I have also considered installing a matrix infinity chip with the new laser fix that they have described on their website -- http://www.infinitymod.com/cgi-bin/matrix/site.pl?page=laserv12 --. And i was wondering if anyone knew if this fix would be able to keep the laser from frying.
So basically i would like you guys advise on this and tell me what you would do if oyu were in my position.
Also i was wondering if the swap disk method works with all backups and is relatively easy to do, how come everybody doesn't use it? Again, i have no idea if it is easy to use and/or works with all backups.
i used to have swap disc, generally 2 methods are available 1.flip top 2.slide card.both are not as easy to use as mod chip.my advice is buy yourself the fat version of ps2,fit it with messiah 2.no problems, had mine for over a year now.
