Since you aren't getting the errors with Nero, it sounds like maybe you have installed the InCD part of the Nero suite.
InCD is a packet writing application that doesn't like to share access to your drive. So when another burning application tries to use the drive, you end up with errors. Roxio has a similar issue.

Well I uninstalled Nero but I still get the error. It still burns after ignoring it. Where is this Incd, does it get removed after uninstalling Nero?

You don't need to uninstall Nero entirely, just Nero InCD which should show up separately in Add/Remove programs. Another problematic app is Windows built in IMAPI burning service.

IMAPI can be disabled by following these steps:

Start >
Control Panel >
Administrative Tools >
Services >

Now scroll down to IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and double click it.

In the Properties window under the General tab look for the Startup Type drop down menu and select Disabled. Click OK and you're good to go.

If that doesn't work you can set Decrypter to where it doesn't need to lock the drive by doing the following:

Tools > Settings > ISO Write Mode > then uncheck "Lock Volume - Exclusive Access".

By using this method you're possibly leaving yourself open to failed burns if another app interrupts the burn process.

Thanks for the help Nephilim.
I didn't know about the IMAPI program. That's what I love about this place, always learning something new.

Nope.
If Microsoft can't create something competitive(in their eyes) they buy it.

Do you have any other packet writing apps such as Roxio Drag To Disc or DLA?

Sonic may include DLA so you might uninstall that and see if it clears things up.

Do you have a Dell computer? I'm getting conflicting reports of what DVDSentry is. One site says this:
Quote:
This process is a part of software that detects DVDs and prompts the user to run the Dell installed DVD application. Some DVDs include their own DVD decoding/playing software that will automatically want to install itself on the PC when you insert the DVD. Installing multiple DVD playing applications can cause problems as an application may overwrite a file or they may fight with each other as to which application is used by default to play DVDs. DVD sentry detects when another DVD decoding/playing applications is about to be installed, and prompts the user to use the Dell installed DVD player instead. Located in "C:\WINDOWS\System32\" on Windows XP.
While several others list it as spyware. To be sure, I'd run both AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy to ensure that it isn't spyware. It's a very, very good idea to run both of them on a regular basis anyhow. Here are the links for both:

Yes I do have a Dell. Iv cleaned up all my spyware with Adaware and spybot amoung a slew of other programs. So I dont have spyware. Its definitely a Dell program. I will remove it along with anything else that has DVD connected to it. After further investigation what do I see. Sonic DLA sitting right in my program. Lets see what happens after I remove it.
