Is the disc clean and scratch free? Have you tried to rip it with any other apps? Have you tried ripping at low speed such as 4X?

It appears the game is SafeDisc protected. Have you run both discs through A-Ray Scanner to determine which disc is protected? Here's alink to A-Ray:

I'm assuming it's disc two in which case Nero will never be able to make a copy of it. You'll need to use something like Alcohol 120%, BlindWrite or CloneCD.

When I backed up my original, I just downloaded a torrent of the game, and it came as 2 different disc files and a .cue file for the 2 disc files. in Nero, select 'burn iso' and select the first .cue file and burn it. Repeat for second disc. Thats it. :)

That's not backing up an original. It's called downloading a pirated game :)

You may assume that, however, I DO own the original. Thanks though. And it is an effective method of backing up your game because it doesn't much matter how you acquire the image of the disc, whether it be via FTP or off the net. As long as you own the original, there is no pirating involved.

Irregardless of whether you own the original or not downloading then burning isn't a true backup because it requires cracks to work. Simple as that. Not to mention JRipper7 is asking how to back up his original not how to download one and get it to work so the downloading topic in this thread will cease. Read the forum rules and you'll know why.

Have a look at the forum rules - there's to be no discussion of cracks. Let's not do it again ;)

Whats wrong with backing up the original?

Is it damaged or what?
If you have the original there is no reason to look for it on the net.

So in the end....no one gave advice how to back it up successfully it seems???

I have been trying to back up mine for days now too....
BWA builder will not read the CD and gets a read error at sector 1100. Thus I have not been able to make a BWA for twinpeak.
A few latest games I have are bombing out at sector 900 to 1100 area. In two different DVD writers, which are in two different PC's.
Blindwrite5 and Alcohol 120% both read the entire CD's fine though.

Any ideas? Thanks.

@ peterv

A mass of read errors at the beginning of a SafeDisc protected game is normal - it's part of how the protection works. Just let Alcohol do it's thing and they'll eventually stop. Reading and writing at 4X is highly recommended.

What make/model drive(s) are you using to back it up?

Isn't The Sims 2 using SecureRom? I thought BWA files were useful for all (many?) protections.

If I remember correctly Sims2 uses the latest SafeDisc - 3.20.022. You can scan it with A-Ray Scanner to confirm this:

Do you have the CD or DVD version?

Hi,

I have a couple friends that I game with and we always make a backup of our games. Until now we have not had a backup not work. This is what we do. I have installed a program called anydvd (usually $20-$40) which as you can tell by the name is a program that emulates a RPC1 dvd drive... it also removes dss off of DVD's and CD's. This program running in combination with Clone CD (which is an excelent cd copying program) seems to work just fine. Open Clone and do disc copy selecting game cd option. DONT USE COPY ON THE FLY! Create a cut/cue sheet and either delete after successful write or you can use this cut sheet to make multiple copies. I have used it for halo, NFS 1 & 2, etc. etc. Enjoy.

I have the CD version. I have tried many things and still unable to get a working copy so far.
Should it work pretty easily with CloneCD or Blindwrite....does anyone know for sure?
Thanks
