ok im a newb to this board but not to the whole moding thing, i just finished my X-box so i figured i would move onto the PS2 but its a slight more complicated i take it, i have a v6 NTSC ps2 with a neo chip (a fancy alternative to the flip top and slide card) so i still use swap discs GS mainly to boot backups.

now i noticed geting all of the information i need in one place is VERRY difficult and every site contradicts the other sooo my questions are this...... i have the maxtor 80gig 7200rpm 8mb cache Network Adaptor. and i have the HD Advance 2.0 discs coming in the mail.... now im pretty sure i have everything i need.

BUT!
i wanna mess around with it a little bit and get a feel for the way everything works... now i need to know how i can get the free hdloader (because im told its a way better program and the HD Advance is a knock off?) i found a few places claiming to offer it ps2ownz.com but they just gave me some corrupt .doc file about linux.

i know ill need to swap to get the loader to work but im also told i need to use the Independance Exploit? i attempted this but to no success because the 4 discs i burnt didnt work 2 using nero 6, 1 using Alcohol 120% and one using Nero 5.5.

More info came into play when i was told i now need ANOTHER exploit program onto my mem card called Cogloader?

so as i see it i need to
1.get the cogloader going
2. use that to boot the cd to install the independance exploit
3. use the exploit to run the backup copy of my free hdloader?

this seems like way too much work so if someone could just give me a hand in the right direction on all of this?

Yea I can help you out.
The independence lnstaller is used to install programs into the "memory card" ie the hdloader exploit.
And then to boot them you use an original PS1 disc. cool huh?

Since you already have what is needed to install the exploit I suggest you look here first.

yes you can use HDLoader/Advance to format the drive.
Once youve done that you can use either HDLoader or HDAdvance to play games from the HardDrive. You don't need to pick one, both programs will recognise the games you've converted.
