Plz help me pick best quality program to make DVDs

Hello,

I have an age-old question which must have been discussed here ad nauseum but i still cannot make a choice.

These are my goals:

1: Convert XVID AVIs to DVD
2: Backup my DVD movies (some copy protected).
3: I do not want to spend 15 hours encoding (like with TMPENG and separating audio etc. I am looking for a easy to use but high quality program to achieve goals 1 and 2.
So far i have used Ulead DVD Movie Factory to convert AVI to DVD, followed by either DVDShrink or Nero Recode 2 to fit it on 4.7Gb DVD.

I have seen the comparison guide on dvd.sk with the Matrix movie screenshots and they show that DVDShrink and Nero Recode 2 do not reencode very well, and that Intervideo DVD Copy 2.5 and Pinnacle Instacopy are much better. Also i read somewhere that CCE Cinemacraft Encoder is the best. The criticisms i heard about the above progs; Pinnacle Instacopy is too slow and DVD Intervideo does not estimate DVD disc size correctly.

Are there better tools to achieve my goals or any of the above progs are best to use despite criticisms ?

Also, for copy protection, i was told to use DVD Decrypter. Is it a good prog for that ? Can any of the above do the same thing ?

Any help would be appreciated.
