i have a swap disc and dvd-r games but i wanna use cheats for he games i went and bought a ar action replay cheat cd with memory card and i loaded th ear replay and done the update then i selected nfsug2 then i opened the cheats i wanted and the when it sayed to insert the game i put the swap disc in and it brought me to the switch screen and i used the slide card and put in backup and all i got was a black screen

I cant exactly help you there, but as for slide cards, forget them. They wear away at the inside and mechanics of the cd/dvd tray and if you arent pretty good with it, it good be ruined in a couple of uses, and it is heaps of work (especially if you have a DVD game that needs cd loader, where you have to put in swap magic CD, CDLoader, swap magic DVD, and finally your game. Also, what would happen if it breaks with a copied game jammed in your ps2, you couldn't get it fixed by sony cos they might charge you a piracy fine. I ordered a slide card, but when I read they were bad, I ordered a flip top case, it is clear blue. Or you may want to get a solder free mod chip. It is totally up to you, I just dont want someone to wind up with a screwed PS2, I hope I have helped you, rcmpayne.

The steps should be like this:

ARMax when the screen first pops up eject the tray and put in Swap Magic Dvd.It should start to refresh then just select your codes.When it gives you a prompt that you have so an so codes on click on ok.

It should now boot to the swap magic screen.Using your slidecard swap out the swap magic disc with cdloader or dvdloader either one and press the X button.

It will give you the cdloader or dvdloader screen.Eject the tray and put the swap magic disc back in depending on your game if it is a Cd base game use the swap magic cd if dvd use the swap magic dvd.Now press the X button again and it should give you a screen saying Insert Disk using EA Method or something of the lines.Just use your slidecard and put in your backup press the X button and you should be playing your game with ARMax codes.I hope this helps you out.

So to breifly narrow down the steps it should be like this:

ARMax

Swap Magic (Swap Magic Cd/Dvd depending on cdloader or dvdloader)
Select your codes press the X button proceed until Swap Magic screen

Use the slidecard method and put in cdloader/dvdloader either one of those.

Swap Magic Cd/Dvd depending on what type of game you want to play.Press the X button and wait for the screen to say Insert Disk EA method.

Use slidecard and insert your backup then press the X button again.

You should be able to play codes now with your backups.
