What are the software requirements for burning movies already downloaded to one's harddrive to a dvd-r. Can software like 1click or dvd clone perform this copy or is something else needed. Thanks

It all depends in what format this is avi,vcd,svcd,divx,dvd and so on.You will need to get a conversion software to suit the format.

Can you explain further, are their conversion software for each of the formats that you mentioned and what are the procedures after you convert, do you still need the 1click program or dvd clone?

TMPGEnc is a good one for the conversion to MPEG-2 so here's a guide to give you a rough idea of what to do:

Then you'll need to use TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert the files to the proper DVD format ready for either shrinking or burning. Here's a guide for that:
