Ok they are seen as 2X discs in Nero, but they will not burn @ 2X or burn @1X,save your money or wait until a new firmware is out?
Pug
PS,If anyone has come across working 2X media for this drive, let us know!Or better still 4X,cheers!
Pioneer 105!

Pug, I used the Datasafe classic 2x on my 104 without any firmware upgrade. It worked like a charm buring in just less than 30 mins using Nero.

Only firmware 1.31 writes at 1x/2x with pioneer 104 doesn`t it?

the 1.33 firmware doesn`t allow 2x?

Email me if I don`t reply to a previously answered post. I`m probably fishing :)

Yes, on A04 only 1.31 allows you to burn any media in 2x. Pioneer forgot the lock on that firmware update.

There are 2x4all firmware hacks for both A03 and A04 drives. That hack removes the 2x lock from the drives (basically it doesn't check the media compatibility anymore).

Use at your own risk. My A03 is running 1.68 2x4all and works like a charm. You just have to have quality media (any RITEK G3 based will do) - don't go for the cheapest budget disks, you will get a lot of coasters.

PS if you don't know where to get the 2x4all, try searching that string with google ;)

I reckon so m8,I get power calibrations errors with Datawrite classic discs, they wont burn at 1X or 2X!
I've been told White label discs 2X ones, are meant to be able to burn at 4X,but I cannnot confirm this myself as I've not been able to find a source to purchase them from, hard enough finding 2X media!
