NEC 3500A speed adjustment question

HI,

I just put in a NEC 3500A multi format dvd burner in my Dell. I tried to back up my first movie and the Nero burning rom started the burn at 2x.

The 3500A should burn a DVD-R at 16x. My media is 8x DVD-R. How do I adjust the burn rate to 8x, the media limit?

I had an external Sony firewire burner before the NEC and it's limit was 2 or 2.4x. I was wondering if the pc had the old burner speed as the default and it was not seeing the potential new burn speeds on the new burner. ( I'm reaching here.....)

Any help is welcomed on this,
