ps2 v9 la chip

i'm having a problem with a v9 ps2 there's no browser screen and it won't eject the ps2 dvd tray the laser seem to be working, when you put a game in you can see the laser trying to read the disc but the disc won't spin up, the fan works, the reset/eject buttons light up and when you press the eject button it flashes as it would normaly but the tray don't come out, does this sound like a la chip failure

Cant say for sure but it sounds like a chip failure to me.
Have a look at the disk drive ribbon cable to make sure its connected properly though.

thanks for the answer have checked all connections and they are fine, looks like i'll have to replace the la chip as the laser tests fine

Yes it sounds like the la chip.
This has a tendency to die on v9/10 and many people have had problem with it.
It sounds pretty dificult to get out and replace it but if you have done alot of mods then you should be fine.

thanks for the input, should have no problems removing it as i have an ic removal tool, just wanted a few people to sort of confirm my suspicions that it was the la chip at fault

hi i got a la6508 (rII) as a replacment for just under £7.00 but i havent had time to fit it yet, but before you buy a replacment la chip make sure that the laser coils are still ok as sometimes when the la chip burns out it takes the laser with it
