when i run Smart Ripper, i get message "no key codes found to this encrypted file" and movie will not copy.

As stated in our guides, sometimes rippers don't find the CSS keys and you need to use software DVD player. Start SmartRipper, don't rip anything, but leave it open. Start PowerDVD and watch 1-3mins of the __actual movie__ (not the trailers, not credits, but the movie), close PowerDVD and rip.
