hi ppl
can any 1 tell me if it is possible to combine 2 or more avi clips into 1 single clip please
im asking this because i want to turn 8 avi clips into 1 clip that are all episodes of red dwarf and i want them as 1 and then to decode it into a dvd format and then copy to a dvd-r disc which i know how to do or if any 1 can tell me how to put 8 dvd clips onto 1 dvd-r disc it would be great

How did you get on joining the AVI files?. I had a go using wirtual dub and ended up with an 80gb film.

thats cause its AVI uncompressed. now try converting it to mpeg using TMPGEnc. the file size will dramatically decrease

thansk for the quick reply. I am doing as you say. I have used TMPGEnc before but never on an AVI file. Do i want output seperate audio and video files as when i select the "source" file, it does not automatically fill the audio file box.
Sorry, lots of questions.

Whenever I use it, when I select the source it usually fills in the .AVI for the video and audio source. Try selecting the .AVI in the audio box as well. If it doesn't let you, it may just gray it out because it sees the audio in the AVI. you can always do the preview in it and see if the audio is there.

Instead of using VirtualDub, try using VirtualDubMod. As in the name, it is a modded version of the original VirtualDub. In the "File" menu you have a "save as" option. You can either save it uncompressed or select the type of compression you want (Xvid, Dixv, etc).

Okay, i used TMPGencplus, which created a Mpeg but it has no sound. I tried to extract the wav using OSS audio extractor but "audio format unsupported".
Any ideas?

I just tried an AVI in TMPEG Plus, and it worked fine. The AVI file showed up in the video and audio window. My guess is that the audio in that AVI is unsupported, maybe due to a audio codec or sample rate. Other than that, I don't know. Never had that prob before. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
